(after the Barney Theme Song, we see Cody upset, sitting on the Idea Bench, then we fade into the clubhouse where Jimmy, Priscilla, and Jenna are in the clubhouse, with the Barney doll sitting on the coffee table)
Jenna: I spy with my little eye a bunch of squares in different colors! Do you see what I see?
(it takes a while for one of them to find what Jenna sees)
Jimmy: I see! Their the tiles on the floor!
Jenna: That's it, Jimmy! Now it's your turn!
Jimmy: OK! *looks around the room* I spy with my little eye...something close to the coffee table!
(everyone looks around)
Priscilla: I know! It's The Adventure Screen!
Jimmy: That's it, Priscilla! It's your turn now!
Priscilla: *looks around the room* I spy with my little eye...one of our special friends who is a purple dinosaur.
(the Barney doll comes to life)
Barney: Hi everyone! I spy some special friends, too, having a super-dee-duper day! *looks out the window* But I spy one of our friends who's not so happy.
Priscilla: It's Cody! Let's go check on him!
Jimmy: Good idea!
(they go outside, and fades to them going over to the Idea Bench)
Jenna: Cody, what's wrong?
Cody: Oh, hi guys, hi Barney!
Jimmy: You look sad today, Cody! What's wrong?
Cody: Well, my parents are out of town for the week, and my grandparents are staying at my house until they come back! Don't get me wrong, I love my Grandma and Grandpa, but I just can't wait for my Mom and Dad to come home!
(music starts for "I Just Can't Wait")
Cody: I just can't wait, it's just not fair! I'm standing here, but I wanna be there! I just can't wait for what tomorrow brings! I just can't wait for...anything!
Barney: He just can't wait for some summer fun!
Priscilla: Like going to the beach, and playing in the sun!
Cody: I wanna jump and splash when it rains in the spring!
All (except Cody): He just can't wait for...anything!
Cody: I just can't wait for the colors of Fall, to jump in some leaves and play..football!
Jimmy: He just can't wait for a winter's chill!
Cody: I wanna ride my sled from the top of the hill! I just can't wait, it's just not fair! I'm standing here, but I wanna be there! I just can't wait for what tomorrow brings! I just can't wait for anything!
All (except Cody): He just can't wait for what tomorrow brings! I just can't wait for...anything!
Cody: I just can't wait for...anything!
Cody: Gee, I sure do miss my parents! *runs to the clubhouse and everyone else follows*
(fades to Barney, Priscilla, Jenna, and Jimmy entering the clubhouse)
Jimmy: That's funny! I thought I saw him run in here!
Priscilla: Me too!
(footsteps are heard)
Jenna: I think he went upstairs!
Barney: Maybe I better go check on him.
(Barney goes upstairs)
Jimmy: Do you guys want to play some more iSpy!
(they spread out then fades to Cody inside the art room writing on paper then Barney arrives)
Barney: Cody, are you OK?
Cody: Not really!
Barney: It's okay to feel sad when someone in your family is far away, but there are some ways to keep in touch!
Cody: I know! That's why I'm writing my Mom and Dad a letter to let them know I miss them!
(music starts for "I Miss You")
Barney: When people that we love, are far away from us, sometimes we miss them so! The best thing we can do, to show them that we care, is to find a way to let them know!
Cody: My parents went out of town today, I think I'll write them a letter so that I can say, "I miss you, I miss you, oh I miss you so when we're apart! I miss you, I miss you! You got a special place in my heart!"
Barney: And then very soon, a letter arrived, when I opened it up, it read inside...
Cody: "I miss you, I miss you, oh I miss you so when we're apart!"
Barney & Cody: "I miss you, I miss you! You got a special place...You got a special place in my heart!"
(Cody continues writing down his later)
(fades to Barney coming downstairs)
Jenna: How's Cody doing, Barney?
Barney: He still feels sad!
Priscilla: I wish there was something we can do to make him feel better! I have an idea! I'll go sit on the Idea Bench outside, and see if I get an idea there!
Barney: Great idea, Priscilla! I'll go with you!
(Barney and Priscilla exit the clubhouse)
(music starts for "The Idea Song")
(Priscilla sits on the Idea Bench)
Priscilla: I'd like to think of something I never thought before! If it doesn't happen right away, I'll think a little more! I'll sit a little while, imagine what can be, and a new idea might come to me!
Barney & Priscilla: I'd like to think of something new, something fun to do! Maybe solve a problem, or fix a thing or two! If I sit a little while, I'm sure I'll see...a new idea might come to me!
Priscilla: I do have an idea!
Priscilla: Let's go tell Jimmy and Jenna!
(Priscilla runs to the clubhouse)
Barney: Oh boy! I can't wait to see what her idea is!
(Priscilla runs back and grabs Barney by the arm and runs to the clubhouse)
Barney: Whoa, whoa! *chuckles*
(fades to Jenna and Jimmy conforting Cody in the clubhouse)
Jimmy: It'll be okay, Cody!
(Barney and Priscilla enter the clubhouse)
Priscilla: Hey everyone! I got an idea!
Jenna: What is it?
Priscilla: Cody, when do your parents come back home?
Cody: This Saturday!
Priscilla: And today is Sunday! So I think that we should plan something for Cody to do for every day of the week from now till Saturday!
Barney: That's a stu-u-u-pendous idea, Priscilla! And we can use this to help us! *his magic makes a giant calendar appear*
Barney: Now here's a calendar, and as you can see, there are seven days in a week! Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday!
(music starts for "There Are Seven Days")
Barney: There are seven days, there are seven days, there are seven days in a week!
All: There are seven days, there are seven days, there are seven days in a week!
Barney: Now Cody, all you have to do now is think of some your favorite things to do, and then we'll add them to each of the days of the week, so you know what day you want to do them!
Jimmy: So, tomorrow is Monday! What do you want to do on tomorrow?
Cody: Let me think...I like reading books!
Barney: Great! *uses his magic and a picture of a book appears on Monday* So Monday is Reading Day!
Priscilla: Would you guys like to see this book I've been reading?
All (except Priscilla): Yeah!
(Priscilla gets her backpack and pulls out a book)
Priscilla: It's called "The City of Ember" by Jeanne DuPrau. It's a really good book! I borrowed it from the middle school library!
Barney: I'm not surprised, because when you read a book, and use your imagination, almost anything can happen!
Barney: Sure! Come on, I'll show you!
(everyone goes upstairs, and fades to them inside the library)
(music starts for "Books Are Fun")
All: Books are fun, books are great! Let's sit down with a book today! Books are fun, books are great! Is it book time yet? Oh, I just can't wait to read a book!
Jimmy: Do you know why I love to read a book? Why I get so happy everytime I take a look?
Jenna: 'Cause books can take me anywhere that I want to go! Books help my imagination grow!
All: Books are fun, books are great! Let's sit down with a book today! Books are fun, books are great! Is it book time yet? Oh, I just can't wait to read a book!
Priscilla: Books are fun to read, I love the pictures, too!
Barney: I'd love to snuggle up and read with somebody like you!
Cody: All my favorite stories and many more to learn! Good things come with every page I turn!
All: Books are fun, books are great! Let's sit down with a book today! Books are fun, books are great! Is it book time yet? Oh, I just can't wait...to read a book, book, book, book! To read a book, book, book, book! Read a book!
(fades to the next scene where the kids are sitting on some couches and chairs, reading books, then Barney joins them holding a book)
Barney: So, what kind of books is everyone reading?
Jenna: I'm reading this book of the Tortoise and the Haire.
Cody: I'm reading a book about Little Red Riding Hood.
Priscilla: What book are you reading, Barney?
Barney: Well, this book is called Pandora's Box. Would everyone like to hear it?
Barney: OK! But I think I'll need a little help telling the story...
(kids agree to help)
Barney: Great! *chuckles*
(everyone gets into a huddle and fades to the next scene where we're in the theater and the curtains open in on a setting of the inside of a castle)
Barney: Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away, there lived a little girl named Pandora.
(Jenna enters as Pandora)
Jenna: That's me!
Barney: One day, while walking through the castle, Pandora found a box sitting on the table.
Jenna: Hmm...I wonder who's box this is? Oh well, I'm sure no one would mind if I just took one little peek. *begins to open the box a crack but is stopped by Jimmy (as a guard)*
Jimmy: Pandora, stop! Don't open that box!
Jenna: Why? What's wrong?
Jimmy: This box was just delivered to the castle this morning. The delivery man told us if we open this box too soon, terrible things will happen.
Jenna: Oh, OK.
Jimmy: Alright. Now whatever you do, don't open this box, no matter what. Promise?
Jenna: I promise.
(Jimmy leaves the stage)
Barney: As time went by, Pandora could not stop thinking about that box. But after a while, she couldn't wait any longer.
Jenna: OK, that's it! I have to find out what's in this box! *opens the box and out comes magical sparkles that circle around for a little bit, then shoot back into the box as it closes)
Jenna: Hmm, that was weird. I wonder what that was all about?
(Cody enters as the King)
Cody: Oh my goodness, Pandora, it's terrible! My crown just suddenly disappeared out of thin air!
(Priscilla enters as a Princess)
Priscilla: Oh really? Well, when I was putting on my special necklace just now, it disappeared, too! That was a very special necklace, too! I've had it since I was a baby.
Barney: By now, Pandora had realized what was going on. When she opened the box, it had made everyone's things disappeared. That was what the guard meant when he said terrible things would happen if she opened the box too soon.
Jenna: Oh man, what have I done?
Cody: What are you talking about, Pandora?
Priscilla: Yeah, you didn't do anything wrong.
Jenna: Well, you see...I was told not to open this box, because the Guard told me terrible things would happen if I opened it too soon. And when I opened it, it made your crown and necklace disappeared.
Cody: Pandora, you know better than that! You know that when you have to wait, you have to wait!
Priscilla: Yeah! And now my favorite necklace is gone because of you!
Jenna: Well, I'm sorry. I didn't know this would all happen.
(Jimmy enters as the Guard)
Jimmy: Hey guys. The delivery man stopped by the castle again. He forgot to give us the key that went to the box. *sets the key down on the table*
Jenna: That must be it!
(Jenna sticks the key in the hole, twists it, the lid opens up, and the crown and necklace fly out, and Cody and Priscilla claim their things as they adlib)
Priscilla: My necklace! I never thought I'd see this again!
Cody: My crown! The thing I need to prove that I'm the king. Now Pandora, I hoped you learned an important lesson.
Jenna: I did: good things come to those who wait.
Cody: That's right.
Jenna: I'll never let my curiosity get the best of me ever again.
Barney: So you see, the point of our story is really good. When someone tells you to wait, you really should. So learn to be patient, and soon, my friend...
(fades to the next scene where the group is back in the library (the kids without their costumes))
Barney: The wait will be over, and it'll be The End.
Jimmy: That was a good story, Barney!
Barney: Oh, well thank you!
Priscilla: I'm glad Pandora learned to always be patient!
Cody: Oh, I just remembered! We still gotta plan things for what I want to do the rest of the week.
Barney: Oh, your right, Cody. Come on, everyone! Let's hop to it!
(group leaves the library and fades to the group coming downstairs to the living room back to the calendar)
Barney: Now, Cody. What would you like to do on Tuesday?
Cody: Let me think...on Tuesday, I want to play pretend!
Barney: That sounds fun! *his magic makes a picture of some kids appear on the calandar* So Tuesday is Imagination Day! I love to use my imagination!
Priscilla: Me too! If you think about it, there are lots of different ways to use our imagination on the playground outside! Come on, and I'll show you!
(they all exit the clubhouse, and fades to them on the playground)
Priscilla: When I'm climbing across the monkeybars, I like to imagine that I'm reaching from vine to vine in a jungle!
Barney: That's a good idea, Priscilla!
Jenna: And when I swing on the swing, I like to imagine I'm flying high in the sky!
Barney: That does sound fun, Jenna!
Jimmy: And when I slide down the slide, I like to imagine that I'm sledding down a hill covered in snow!
Barney: You have a good imagination, Jimmy!
(music starts for "Just Imagine")
Barney: So you see? You can do almost anything when you use your imagination! Just imagine, just imagine! Just imagine all the things that we could be! Imagine all the places we could go and see! Imagination's fun for you and me!
Cody: We could go to the moon in a great big balloon!
Priscilla: Build a castle by playing pretend!
Jenna: We might even explore with a big dinosaur!
Jimmy: Or make rainbows that never end!
All: Just imagine, just imagine! Just imagine all the things that we could be! Imagine all the places we could go and see! Imagination's fun for you and me! Imagination's fun for you and me!
(fades to Barney and the kids entering the clubhouse and walking near the calandar)
Jenna: Now Cody, what do you want to do on Wednesday?
Cody: Now let me think...I like going to the movies! That's what I want to do on Wednesday!
Barney: That sounds like a great idea! *with his magic a picture of popcorn appears on the Wednesday part* So Wednesday is Movie Day!
Jenna: Awesome idea, Cody! I love going to the movies! I especially like movies that are cartoon!
Jimmy: I like adventure movies best!
Priscilla: What do you like best about the movies, Barney?
Barney: Well, I could tell you, but I think it'd be more fun if I showed you! *chuckles*
(walks out of the clubhouse)
Cody: Where's he going?
Jimmy: I don't know!
(Barney comes back in dressed wearing his outfit for making popcorn)
Barney: My favorite part about the movies is... *pulls in a popcorn maker on wheels*
Barney: That's right! I just love popcorn!
(music starts for "Popcorn Song")
Barney: Oh you can hear it, you can see it, you can smell it, you can make it!
All: You can hear it, see it, smell it, eat it, touch it, crunch it, taste it, munch it! Popcorn is really neat! Fun to make and fun to eat! Popcorn is a pop, pop, ever toppin, never boppin, show stoppin' zany kind of treat!
Barney: The corn starts little then it pops to a poppin' popcorn beat! It fills the popper to the top and then it's time to eat!
All: Popcorn is really neat! Fun to make and fun to eat! Popcorn is a pop, pop, ever toppin, never boppin, show stoppin' zany kind of treat!Oh, you can hear it, see it, smell it, eat it, touch it, crunch it, taste it, munch it! Popcorn is really neat! Fun to make and fun to eat! Popcorn is a pop, pop, ever toppin, never boppin, show stoppin' zany kind of treat! *Barney hands everyone some popcorn* It's a pop, pop, ever toppin, never toppin, show stoppin' zany kind of popcorn!
(music ends, they start eating, and fades to them at the calandar)
Priscilla: The popcorn was great! Thanks, Barney!
Barney: Your welcome!
Jimmy: We got Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday planned! Now all you have left is Thursday and Friday.
Priscilla: Now Cody, what do you want to do on Thursday?
Cody: Let me think...well on Thursday, I think I want to take a walk around the neighborhood!
Barney: So Thursday will be... *his magic makes a house and a tree appear on Thursday of the calandar* Neighborhood Day! There are all kinds of wonderful things to see around the neighborhood!
Jenna: Yeah, like houses and cars!
Jimmy: Stores and trees!
Barney: Let's pretend we're walking in the neighborhood right now! All we have to do is a use a little imagination!
(fades to the gang outside on the playground in a pretend neighborhood)
(music starts for "Lookin' Round My Neighborhood")
All: I'm lookin' round my neighborhood and what do I see? Some houses and cars and kids like me! I see buildings made of bricks, others made of wood, I see people helping people in our neighborhood! There's the school, and a tree! I can see the post office and the library! Oh boy! I'm in luck! I can even see a shiny red firetruck! Oh, I'm lookin' round my neighborhood and what do I see? Some houses and cars and kids like me! I see people and their pets and it makes me feel good to know that I'm part of my neighborhood! There's the school, and a tree! I can see the post office and the library! Oh boy! I'm in luck! I can even see a shiny red firetruck!
(fades to them back in the clubhouse near the calandar)
Jenna: So Cody, all you have left is Friday! What do you want to do on Friday?
Cody: Hmm..I like making things, with art supplies, like crayons, scissors, and glue!
Barney: So Friday will be.. *his magic makes a picture of a hammer appear on Friday* Arts & Crafts Day!
Jimmy: Say Cody, why don't you make a gift for your parents, and you can give it to them when they get back from their vacation!
Cody: That's a great idea, Jimmy!
Barney: This sounds like a job for... *his magic makes the Barney Bag appear on the coffee table*
Kids: The Barney Bag!
(music starts for "The Barney Bag")
Barney: Oh, I've been lookin' in my Barney bag, and I found a lot of things! Gizmos and gadgets and odds and ends and even some old strings!
Kids: So let's ask ourselves the question: "What can we make today?" With imagination and the Barney Bag, we'll see what we can make today! Yeah! See what we can make today!
Jimmy: I got an idea!
Barney: What's that, Jimmy?
(Jimmy goes to get something out of his backpack)
Jimmy: My Mom and Dad were taking some boxes to recycle, and I asked them if I could keep one, and they said I could! *gets the box out of his backpack* So maybe we should decorate this box, and you can put your gift for your parents in this box!
Cody: That's a great idea!
Barney: It is! Let's get to work!
(a montage is shown of them decorating the box while Cody makes a red paper heart writing "Welcome Home, Mom & Dad")
Jenna: The box looks great!
Priscilla: So does the paper heart!
Cody: I think I'll write "Love, Cody" on the heart, too! *gets a marker then writes on it* L..O..V..E..C..O..D..Y!
Barney: I'm sure your Mom and Dad will love getting this present!
Cody: Me too! Thanks, everyone! And thanks for helping me plan things for each day of the week!
Jenna: Your welcome! I had fun helping you plan!
Cody: I think I'm gonna have a great time this week, while waiting for my Mom and Dad to come home!
Barney: I think so too, Cody!
(music starts for "I Love You")
Barney: Sometimes, waiting can be hard, but it can be more fun when your waiting with someone you love. I love you, you love me! We're a happy family! With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you, won't you say you love me too?
All: I love you, you love me. We're best friends like friends should be. With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you, won't you say you love me too?
Cody: I better get my letter to my parents to the mailbox and take my present for Mom and Dad home!
Jimmy: You should get Bethany, your Grandma and Grandpa to sign your heart, too!
Cody: I will!
Priscilla: Oh, and Cody, we're gonna go fly kites at the park later? Do you wanna come?
Cody: Yeah, sure! I'll see if Bethany, Grandma and Grandpa wanna come, too!
Jenna: That would be great!
Kids: Bye, Barney!
Barney: OK, bye everyone!
(everyone leaves the clubhouse, and then we fade over to the Barney doll sitting on a stool next to the calandar, then the doll winks)
