  • (after the Barney Theme Song, we see Cody and Priscilla in the clubhouse, sitting on the couch writing stuff down)
  • Cody: How far are you on your project, Priscilla?
  • Priscilla: Not so far! I'm having such a hard time working on my report for France!
  • Cody: I have to write about Italy, and I'm not doing so well, either!
  • (Jenna enters the clubhouse with her backpack)
  • Jenna: Hey guys!
  • Cody & Priscilla: Hi Jenna!
  • Jenna: Working on your reports for Social Studies class?
  • Cody: Yep!
  • Priscilla: And we're not doing so good!
  • (Jenna takes the Barney doll out of her backpack and puts it on the coffee table)
  • Jenna: Me either! I have to write about Kenya! I've been looking in some books, on the computer, but I just can't find anything out about Kenya!
  • (the Barney doll comes to life)
  • Barney: Whoa! Hi everybody!
  • Kids: Barney!
  • Barney: Hi there! What are you doing?
  • Cody: We're working on reports for school, Barney! I have to write about Italy!
  • Priscilla: I have to write about France!
  • Jenna: And I have to write about Kenya!
  • Kids: And we're not doing so good!
  • Barney: I see.
  • (Cody walks outside with Barney)
  • Cody: Barney, I really want to do good on this report, but no matter how hard I try, I can't find out more about Italy!
  • Barney: Well, what you need is a place to sit and think, and I'm sure you'll get an idea to help you work on your report better! *points at the Idea Bench*
  • (music starts for "The Idea Song")
  • Cody: Oh yeah, the Idea Bench! *sits down on the Idea Bench*
  • Barney: *chuckles* Right!
  • Cody: I'd like to think of something I never thought before! If it doesn't happen right away, I'll think a little more! I'll sit a little while, imagine what could be, and a new idea might come to me!
  • Barney & Cody: I'd like to think of something new, something fun to do! Maybe solve a problem, or fix a thing or two! If I sit a little while, I'm sure I'll see a new idea might come to me!
  • (music ends)
  • Cody: I have an idea!
  • Barney: That's great!
  • (Cody whispers the idea to Barney)
  • Barney: That is a good idea!
  • Cody: Come on, let's go!
  • Barney: OK!
  • (the two run to the clubhouse, and fades to Jenna and Priscilla sitting on the couch and chatting)
  • Cody: Hey guys, I got an idea of how we can learn more about Kenya, Italy, and France!
  • Girls: What is it?
  • Barney: We can look on The Adventure Screen!
  • (Cody sits on the couch with Priscilla and Jenna and Barney walks next to The Adventure Screen)
  • Barney: Here we go! *his magic turns on The Adventure Screen* First, let's learn about France. Did you know that the people in France gave America the Statue of Liberty!
  • Priscilla: Cool! That is definetly going in my report!
  • Barney: France is in the continent of Europe and it's one of the biggest countries in that continent! Now let's talk about Italy! Italy is also in Europe! Did you know that Music was a big part to Italy's culture?
  • Cody: Cool!
  • Barney: Many famous scientists came from Italy, too! And now, let's learn about Kenya! This country is famous for its jungle animals! Dancing is also an important part to Kenya! *his magic turns the Adventure Screen off*
  • Jenna: Thanks, Barney!
  • Barney: You're welcome! It's fun learning about different countries, isn't it?
  • Cody: Yeah it is!
  • Barney: Did that help give you ideas for what to write in your reports?
  • (the group all agrees as they goes outside and adlib as they go)
  • Priscilla: I have an idea that can help us learn more about France, Italy, and Kenya for our reports! Why don't we go to those countries ourselves?
  • Cody: Oh, Priscilla. We need an airplane or a boat to go to those places!
  • Jenna: And we don't have either of those things!
  • Barney: Well, maybe I have something over here in my closet that can help us get to those places!
  • Kids: Really?
  • (Barney walks behind the tree)
  • Barney: Let me see...we have hats, my keyboard, my banjo, my camera, ah, here it is! *comes back around holding his travel book*
  • Priscilla: What's that?
  • Barney: This is my Travel Book! If we use your imaginations, the Travel Book can take us anywhere we want to go! *sets the book down on the step of the playground* Who would like to take a trip around the world?
  • Jenna: I would!
  • Cody: I would!
  • Priscilla: Me too!
  • Barney: Great! Let's go!
  • (music starts for "Here We Go Again")
  • Barney: There are so many places we can go! There's just so much to see! If we use our imaginations, we can be anywhere we'd like to be!
  • All: Now here we go again! We're traveling! There's a great big world to see! We're gonna have fun you know, everywhere we go! A new adventure for you and me!
  • Barney: Meet a friend or two, that's what we'll do, and learn how they live each day! We're going to travel around this great big world in a new and exciting way! Okay!
  • All: Now here we go again! We're traveling! There's a great big world to see! We're gonna have fun you know, everywhere we go! A new adventure for you and me!
  • (music ends)
  • (Barney opens the Travel Book and we zoom inside to a setting of Italy)
  • (Barney and the kids are seen walking)
  • Priscilla: Where are we, Barney?
  • Barney: This is a city called Venice in Italy!
  • (all adlib in awe)
  • Jenna: This place is so cool!
  • (others agree)
  • Cody: Wait a minute! Where are the streets in this city? All I see is water!
  • Barney: In this part of Italy, there are water canals that connect through the whole city of Venice, and people use special boats called gondolas to get around instead of cars!
  • Jenna: Can we take a ride in a gondola?
  • Barney: Sure! I know where we can find one! Follow me!
  • (fades to them walking away and fades to them riding a gondola, with the kids sitting, and Barney rowing)
  • (music starts for "Row, Row, Row Your Boat")
  • Barney: Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream! Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily! Life is but a dream!
  • All: Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream! Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily! Life is but a dream! Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream! Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily! Life is but a dream!
  • (music ends)
  • Cody: That was so cool!
  • Jenna: Yeah, it was!
  • Priscilla: Thanks, Barney!
  • Barney: Your very welcome!
  • (Mario enters)
  • Mario: Chio, Barney!
  • Barney: Chio, Mario! *the two hug* Chio is a way to say "hello" in Italy!
  • Mario: That's right, Barney!
  • Barney: Everyone, I would like you to meet my friend, Mario! Mario, these are my friends, Jenna!
  • Jenna: Hi Mario!
  • Barney: Cody!
  • Cody: Hello!
  • Barney: And Priscilla!
  • Priscilla: Nice to meet you, Mario!
  • Mario: It's nice to meet all of you! What brings you here to Italy?
  • Cody: I'm working on a report for Social Studies class and I have to write about Italy! I've been having a hard time, so maybe you can help me!
  • Mario: Oh, I'd be happy to, mate!
  • Cody: Mate?
  • Barney: That's a way to say "friend" in Italian!
  • Mario: That's right, Barney! And that is the lauguage we speak here in Italy. And even though we speak differently, we eat some of the same foods you eat!
  • Barney: That's right! A long time ago, a man named Marco Polo lived here and he went to many new places and came back with some treasures, like spices and foods no one has seen before!
  • Jenna: I knew that!
  • Priscilla: Me too!
  • Cody: What kinds of foods did Marco Polo find?
  • Mario: Well, I'll show you! Come with me!
  • (they walk away, and fades to them entering a restaurant)
  • Mario: This is the restaurant I work at! The foods Marco Polo found are the foods you'll find here! Like spaghetti, macaroni, lasagna, and pizza!
  • Cody: Mmm...Pizza does sound good right about now!
  • Mario: How would you like to make some right now!
  • Kids: Yeah!
  • Mario: Well, follow me to the kitchen, wash your hands, and we'll get started!
  • (they all walk and fades to them in the kitchen, with Barney wearing his Italian chef's hat and his Italian chef's apron)
  • (the table is set with the things for making pizza and everyone puts toppings on the pizza as the following song plays)
  • (music starts for "Nothing Beats a Pizza")
  • Barney: Roll out the dough, pour out the sauce, sprinkle the cheese, now cover the top with anything you please!
  • All: Pizza, pizza, nothing beats a pizza, it's my tummy's favorite! Pizza, pizza, we love to eat a pizza with yummy toppings over it!
  • Mario: It's fun to make, delicious to eat, it brings out your smile, no, nothing can beat a pizza made your style!
  • All: Pizza, pizza, nothing beats a pizza, it's my tummy's favorite! Stringy, chewy, cheesy, messy, gooey, with yummy toppings over it!
  • Barney & Mario: It's fun to make, delicious to eat, it brings out your smile, no, nothing can beat a pizza made your style!
  • All: Pizza, pizza, nothing beats a pizza, it's my tummy's favorite! Pizza, pizza, we love to eat a pizza with yummy toppings over it! Nothing beats a pizza!
  • (music ends)
  • (fades to Mario taking the pizza out of the oven)
  • Jenna: That pizza looks really good!
  • Cody: Oh, it does!
  • Mario: Let me cut it into slices, we'll wait for it to warm up a bit, then it's pizza time! *cuts the pizza with a pizza slicer*
  • (fades to everyone done eating)
  • Priscilla: That hit the spot! Thanks for letting us make a pizza, Mario!
  • Mario: You're very welcome!
  • (we see Cody writing on paper with Barney watching)
  • Cody: I think that pizza was really good!
  • Barney: I think so too! And I see you have a lot of stuff to write down for your project!
  • Cody: I do! *continues writing down then gets up* Thanks for teaching me more about Italy, and for letting us make the pizza, Mario!
  • Mario: You're welcome! I think that was the best pizza the restaurant has ever made!
  • Barney: It was super delicious!
  • Jenna: Where are we going next, Barney?
  • Barney: Our next stop is Kenya!
  • Jenna: Great!
  • Barney: Thank you Mario for sharing the culture of Italy with us!
  • Mario: You're welcome! I hope you can come back sometime!
  • All (except Mario): Bye!
  • (Barney and the kids leave)
  • Mario: Bye, mates!
  • (fades to Barney and the kids walking around in Kenya, and Barney is wearing his safari hat and his safari jacket)
  • Priscilla: This is Kenya?
  • Barney: It sure is!
  • Jenna: There certainly a lot of jungles here!
  • Barney: Well there are a lot of different areas here in Kenya, some jungle, some desert, and some grass!
  • (Scott arrives)
  • Scott: Jombo, Barney!

  • Scott: Of course!
  • Priscilla: Thank you!
  • Scott: Well one thing Kenya is famous for is the dancing! And look here come some of my friends! Would you like them to perform a traditional dance for you?
  • Kids: Yeah!
  • (some African boys and girls enter and perform a traditional dance)
  • Barney: That was stu-u-u-pendous!
  • Jenna: Thanks for sharing your dance with us!
  • (African kids adlibing as they leave)

  • Barney: That does sounds fun!
  • (kids plead to go on a safari)
  • Barney: Well, OK!
  • Kids: Yay!
  • Scott: Did you know safari is another Swahili word?
  • Priscilla: It is?
  • Scott: Sure! It means journey. Now, who's ready to go on a journey, or as we say here, a safari?
  • (kids adlibing)
  • Barney: Then let's go! Right this way to the jungle!
  • (music starts for Camera Safari as we fade into a jungle)
  • All: We're going on a Kenya Safari to see what we can see!
  • Scott: There's a lion and a tiger and a great big monkey swinging on the branch of a tree!
  • All: It looks like a chimpanzee! Oh here on safari you can hear the lions roar! Rrrrrr-rhinoceros and tigers and so much more! Hear the snakes hissing in the grass below! Sss-see the silly monkeys putting on a show! A safari is the way to go!

  • Jenna: Yeah, they were so cute!
  • Barney: *chuckles* They were! But you know what I like best about the animals?
  • Kids: What?
  • Barney: Each animal has its own special way of letting us know it has something to say!
  • (music starts for "Every Animal Talks In Its Own Special Way")
  • Barney: Every animal talks in its own special way! Now let's listen to what some animals have to say!

  • Kids: Oh yeah!
  • Barney: That's right!
  • (music starts for "I Love You")
  • Barney: I'm so happy I could help you today! I'm alway's happy when I get to help the ones I love. I love you, you love me. We're a happy family. With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you, won't you say you love me too?
