(after the Barney Theme Song, we start the episode with Lucas and Sydney sitting on the Idea Bench, while the Barney doll is sitting on the pillar next to the bench)

Both: Rock, paper, scissors!

(Lucas gets rock, Sydney gets paper)

Sydney: Paper covers rock.

Both: Rock, paper, scissors!

(Lucas gets rock, while Sydney gets scissors)

Lucas: Rock crushes scissors, so I win this time.

Sydney: That was fun, Lucas. What do you wanna do now?

Lucas: Hmm...how about pat a cake?

Sydney: Good idea, that’s a good one.

Both: Pat a cake, pat a cake baker’s man. Bake me a cake as fast as you can. Pat it, roll it, mark it with a B, and put it in the oven for Barney and me!

(the Barney doll comes to life)

Barney: For me? Thank you!

Kids: Barney!

Barney: Hi Sydney, hi Lucas! What are you two doing on this fine day?

Lucas: Just playing games.

Barney: That’s a great way to spend the day. Can I play too?

Kids: Sure!

(music starts for “Let’s Play Together”)

Barney: Great! *chuckles* I love to play with you, run and jump all day. Everything we do is fun when I’m with you.

All: Let’s play together, it’s what we love to do. Let’s play together, I love to play with you.

Barney: I’m glad your here today, now we can play pretend. Or we can play our favorite game with all our special friends.

All: Let’s play together, it’s what we love to do. Let’s play together, I love to play with you.

Barney: When it’s a rainy day, we’ll have lots to do. We can be inside and play as long as I’m with you.

All: Let’s play together it’s what we love to do. Let’s play together have fun the whole day through. Let’s play together, it’s what we love to do. Let’s play together, I love to play with you!

(Song ends)

Lucas: Hey, I thought Holly was gonna come out to play too.

Sydney: She must still be working on her project for her robotics class.

Lucas: Why don’t we go check on her?

Barney: Good idea, let’s go!

(The gang leaves the area, as we then fade inside the garage as Holly, holding a remote control, is testing a tiny little robot)

(The gang walks in greeting Holly)

Holly: Hey guys, hi Barney!

Barney: Hi Holly! Oh my. What’s this?

Holly: This is a little toy robot for my robotics class. Pretty cool, isn’t it?

(All adlibbing)

Sydney: How’s it coming along, Holly?

Holly: I actually just finished. I’m just testing it right now. Wanna see?

(All agree to)

(Holly briefly shows them the robot walking around on the table)

(All adlibbing at how cool it is and compliment her)

Holly: Thanks guys...although it’s not moving as fast as I want it too. I think I’m gonna take a break for now, I’ve been working on this all day.

Sydney: Well, wanna come play with us outside?

Holly: Oh sure, that’d be great!

Barney: Then lead the way!

(Barney and the girls leave the garage, leaving Lucas in by himself, looking at the robot)

Lucas: Man this robot is so cool. I wish I knew how to build something like that. I wonder how Holly put it together, and how she got it to work with the remote control?

(Music starts for “How Does This Thing Work?”)

Lucas: How does this thing work? How does this thing work? How does this thing work? I really want to know. What if I push here? What if I pull there? How does this thing work? I really want to know. I’ve got a lot of questions. I really want to know….why things work the way they do. I’d like to find the answer so….how does this thing work? How does this thing work? How does this thing work, I really want to know. What if I push here? What if I pull there? How does this thing work? I really want to know!

(Song ends)

Lucas: Well I bet I could figure out how to control it. *picks up the remote controller, starts using it to make it walk forward* Aw neat, I’m doing it. Let’s turn you around now. *with the remote, makes the robot slowly turn around* Cool! I’ve got the hang of this now. I’m a professional.

(The robot is slowly walking closer to the edge of the table)

Lucas: Uh oh. It’s getting closer to the edge of the table. *starts pushing many buttons at once* Come on little robot! Turn around! Turn around!!

(In slow motion, the robot falls off the table, once it hits the ground, it breaks in several places)

Lucas: *in shock* Oh no! I broke it! Oh man, this is not good. What am I gonna do? *gets up and notices Barney and the girls playing catch with the ball* Good, they seem distracted. I should have plenty of time to get this back together.

(fades to the next scene as Lucas is struggling to put the robot back together)

Lucas: Let’s see, these are the legs, here are the arms, I have no idea what that is, and here’s the head. *puts the pieces together only for it to fall apart* Ugh. I can’t do this by hand. Aha! I can use Riff’s toolbox. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if I borrowed it. *looks out the window and watches the others* But I gotta get into the clubhouse first.

(Fades to the next scene as Barney and the girls are outside tossing the ball back and forth to each other, throwing improv lines around while playing)

(Lucas slowly walks to the clubhouse entrance)

Lucas: *whispering to himself* Just play it cool, Lucas. Just play it cool.

Barney: Oh there you are Lucas!

Holly: Come on and play ball with us!

Lucas: Um...I can’t right now. I uh...have a big homework assignment due tomorrow. It’s worth a lot of points, so I really have to get busy.

Girls: OK.

(Lucas goes into the clubhouse)

Holly: How about we play something else now?

Sydney: OK, like what?

Holly: Hm...how about tag?

(Other two agree)

Barney: That’s a stu-u-pendous idea!

Holly: Good, because *taps Barney* Your it, Barney!

(Girls laugh, as they run off in different directions)

Barney: Ready or not, here I come! Whoa! *chuckles*

(Sydney goes behind the idea bench, Barney comes to the other side. Sydney tries to go one way, then another, until she decides to run for it, but Barney gets her)

Barney: Tag! Your it! *chuckles*

Holly’s voice: Hey Sydney!

(we now see Holly on the top of the playground)

Holly: Catch me if you can!

(Sydney runs over to the playground, climbs up to the slides, but Holly slides down)

Sydney: Oh...I see how it is.

(Sydney slides down, Lucas walks out of the clubhouse holding a toolbox)

Sydney: *taps Holly* Tag, your it!

Holly: Ugh! *runs to Lucas* Tag, your it, Lucas!

Lucas: Holly, I told you I wasn’t playing.

Holly: Oh yeah. Sorry Lucas. Say...why do you need Riff’s toolbox for your homework assignment?

Lucas: Oh this? I uh...I have to write...yeah! An essay...on how to properly use tools.

Holly: ….Um...okay then….

(Lucas walks out of the area)

Holly: Hmm… *slowly walks to a tree* I don’t remember this tree having a tail before. *taps Barney’s tail* Tag, your it, Barney!

Barney: Oh no! *chuckles* *comes out from behind the tree* Whoops! I think I need a bigger tree. Or a shorter tail

(All laugh)

Holly: That was fun, but now I’m worn out from all that running.

Sydney: Yeah, me too.

(The girls sit on the idea bench)

Sydney: Is there a game we can play where we don’t need to get up or run around?

Barney: I know the perfect game for something like that. How about The N Game?

Holly: Huh? How do you play that?

Barney: It’s very easy. I’ll give you a word, and then you give me back a rhyming word, but it has to start with the letter N.

Sydney: That sounds fun!

Holly: Then let’s do it!

(music starts for “The N Game”)

Barney: OK then! *spin jumps* Whoa! Can you think of a word that starts with N that rhymes with the word I say? If you know a few words beginning with N, Then I think we’re ready to play. Here it goes! Ice.

Holly: N-n-n-Nice.

Barney: Pail.

Sydney: N-n-n-Nail.

Barney: Pickle.

Holly: N-n-n-Nickel.

Barney: Hose.

Sydney: N-n-n-Nose.

Barney: Very good! You learn fast! *chuckles* Can you think of other words that start with N that rhyme with the word I say? If you know some more words beginning with N, then let’s continue to play. Here we go now. Game.

Holly: N-n-n-Name.

Barney: Best.

Sydney: N-n-n-Nest.

Barney: Tap.

Holly: N-n-n-Nap.

Barney: Light.

Sydney: N-n-n-Night.

Barney: Wow! Your very good at this! Well that was fun and you sure know a lot of words that begin with N. If we’re ever just looking for something to do, We should play this game again. Last time now. Ice.

Holly: Nice.

Barney: Pail.

Sydney: Nail.

Barney: Pickle.

Holly: Nickel.

Barney: Hmm….Hose.

Sydney: Nose.

Barney: Game.

Holly: Name.

Barney: Fun.

Sydney: None.

Barney: We’re all done! *chuckles*

(Song ends)

(All adlibbing at once, as we fade to the next scene, as Lucas is using tools trying to put the robot together, but isn’t doing good)

Lucas: Aw man. This is harder than I thought. I’ll never get this put back together.

(The girls talking to each other is faintly heard)

(Lucas looks out the window, and notices that their coming to the garage)

Lucas: Oh no! Holly’s coming! What am I gonna do? Aha! *gets a blanket, puts it on the table, covering all the pieces of the robot, then Lucas hides behind some boxes* Hopefully they won’t suspect it’s me.

(The girls enter, still talking to each other)

Sydney: Ok the parachute must be in here somewhere….say Holly, where’s your robot?

Holly: Maybe it’s under here. *takes the blanket off the table, revealing the broken robot* Oh no! My robot!

Sydney: Oh my gosh! That’s terrible.

Holly: I worked so hard on this. It’s due tomorrow, I’ll never get it put back together in time. I guess I’ll just have to accept the fact that I’m gonna get an F on the assignment. *sighs then leaves*

(Sydney starts to follow her)

Lucas: *whispering to himself as he comes out of hiding* Phew...that was a close one. *trips over a box*

(Sydney turns around)

Lucas: *nervously laughs* Hey Sydney, how’s it going?

Sydney: Lucas, do you know anything about this?

Lucas: About what?

(Sydney points at the robot pieces)

Lucas: Oh yeah….that.

Sydney: Were you the one who broke it, Lucas?

Lucas: Well, maybe.

Sydney: Did you or did you not?

Lucas: I uh…*sigh* Yes I did. But it was an accident, and I don’t want Holly to know I did it. If she finds out, she might not want to be my friend anymore. Sydney, can you please keep a secret?

Sydney: Well you gotta tell her the truth, Lucas.

Lucas: I can’t. It could hurt our friendship.

Sydney: Then fine, I’ll do it! *screams out the window* Hey Holly!

(Lucas covers Sydney’s mouth with his hand, all that’s heard is muffled screaming from Sydney)

(This lasts for a few seconds, until Barney walks in)

Barney: What’s going on in here?

(Lucas gets his hand off of Sydney’s mouth)

Lucas: Oh….nothing.

Barney: Is everything okay, Lucas?

Lucas: Umm….

Sydney: Go ahead, Lucas. Tell him.

Lucas: Well Barney the thing is...I uh...I…

Barney: Yes Lucas?

Lucas: Well, I uh…

Sydney: Come on, Lucas. Spit it out!

Lucas: OK fine. I broke Holly’s robot. I didn’t mean to, it was an accident. I didn’t want to tell anybody, because if I did, Holly probably wouldn’t want to be my friend anymore. Man this is the biggest mistake I’ve ever made!

(music starts for “Making Mistakes”)

Lucas: I made a mistake, something’s wrong. Uh oh, should I tell someone? What would people say if they knew? I’m not sure what I should do.

Barney & Sydney: Uh oh, yikes, whoopsie, making mistakes is the way we learn. Uh oh, yikes, whoopsie. And everybody gets a turn.

Lucas: My tummy spins, my knees both shake, each time I make a mistake. I feel like I might want to cry. Why can’t things just turn out right?

Barney & Sydney: Uh oh, yikes, whoopsie, making mistakes is the way we learn. Uh oh, yikes, whoopsie. And everybody gets a turn.

Barney: No need to worry, no need to shake. Everybody makes mistakes. All you need to do is try, to be more careful next time!

All: Uh oh, yikes, whoopsie, making mistakes is the way we learn. Uh oh, yikes, whoopsie. And everybody gets a turn. Yes, uh oh, yikes, whoopsie, making mistakes is the way we learn. Uh oh, yikes, whoopsie. And everybody gets a turn.

(Song ends)

Lucas: Well, I know I can learn from my mistake, but I still don’t want to tell Holly the truth.

Sydney: But Lucas, You really should tell her what happened. Honesty is the best policy.

Barney: That’s right, Sydney. In fact, that reminds me of a story that’ll make it perfectly clear. I think that book is in here somewhere…*adlibbing while looking through a box* Here it is! *pulls out a book* The Boy Who Cried Wolf. Would you like to hear it?

Kids: Yeah!

Barney: Ok. *opens the book* Once upon a time…..

(Fades to next scene as Lucas is outside on the playground, wearing old clothes and a hat, and there are several sheep plushies scattered around)

Barney: There was a young boy who lived in a little village. Everyday, the boy looked after all the sheep to make sure the wolf didn't steal them. He would sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and....well, you get the idea. *chuckles* As you can tell, the boy doesn't have much fun. But one day, he decided to change that.

Lucas: Hmm...I wonder what would happen if I made it sound like the wolf was stealing the sheep.

Barney: And then he shouted as loud as he could......

Lucas: Help! A wolf is taking the sheep! Somebody help me!

(We now see Sydney wearing a farmer jacket and hat while watering seeds in the garden)

Barney:A villager heard and rushed to the rescue.

Sydney: Oh no! I better go help! This sounds serious. *runs off to the playground to where Lucas is* Huh? All the sheep are still here. Where's the wolf?

Lucas: Well, there never was a wolf. I was only kidding.

Sydney: That's not a funny joke. This is a very serious matter. Next time I hear you cry wolf, it better not be a lie. *leaves*

Barney: The villager went back to work and the boy was the happiest he had been in a long time.

Lucas: That was so much fun! I want to do it again. Help! A wolf is taking the sheep! Somebody help me!

Sydney: It's the boy again! He better be telling the truth this time. *runs off to the playground* *sighs* Go figure. The sheep are still here, so there must be no wolf.

Lucas: Wow, your catching on quick! *laughs to himself*

Sydney: *sighs* Why do I even bother? *leaves the area*

Barney: The angry villager went back to work. The boy knew what he was doing was wrong, but he just couldn't help himself.

Lucas: Help! A wolf is taking the sheep! Somebody help me!

Sydney: *sighs* Let's see if there's actually a wolf this time. *angrily walks to the playground* Oh and would you look at that! There isn't a wolf!

Lucas: That's right! I got ya again! *laughs to himself*

Sydney: Ok that's it! This is the last straw! If that wolf does come, your on your own, pal. I won't be coming to "help" you anymore. *angrily walks off*

Lucas: Yeah, she's got a point. I think that's enough fun for one day.

Barney: And you'll never guess what happened next. Well, can you?

(Holly enters wearing a wolf costume)

Holly: Oow OOH!

Lucas: It's the real wolf! Somebody help me! It's the wolf! He's taking the sheep! *runs off the playground and out of the area*

(Holly as the wolf picks up several of the sheep plushies at once

(Lucas goes to the garden where Sydney is)

Sydney: YOU!? What do you want?

Lucas: There's a--

Sydney: No wait let me guess! You want me to run all the way over to the field, only for me to find out that there is no wolf and the sheep are perfectly fine. Well guess what? That jokes old. I'm not falling for it this time.

Lucas: But I'm telling you! This time, it's the real wolf.

Sydney: Listen to me. I don't believe you, and I never will believe you no matter how many times you tell me the wolf is stealing the sheep.

(Lucas grabs Sydney by the arm, as they go back to the playground)

Barney: The boy wouldn't give up though. He decided to bring the villager with him back to the field, only to find out that.....

(They return to the playground with all the sheep gone)

Lucas: The sheep! Their gone!

Sydney: But...where's the--

Holly: *enters carrying the sheep* Ow ooh! *runs off*

Lucas: Great, the sheep are gone. I'm sorry about all this. From now on, I'll always tell the truth.

Barney: And that's just what he did.

(Fades back to the garage, Sydney and Lucas are back in their regular clothes, Barney shuts the book)

Barney: The end.

(Kids clap adlibbing that it was a good story)

Barney: I’m glad you liked it.

Sydney: So what do you think, Lucas? Are you still afraid to tell Holly the truth?

Lucas: No. Now I see why honesty is the best policy.

Barney: That’s the spirit! *chuckles* Even if you may not think so, telling the truth is always the right thing to do!

(Music starts for “Honesty”)

Barney: It’s better to be honest. It’s better to tell the truth. It’s better to be honest. Always tell the truth.

All: It’s better to be honest. It’s better to tell the truth. It’s better to be honest. Always tell the truth.

Barney: Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes we make mistakes. But if you tell the truth, then you’ll feel really great!

Sydney: Sometimes things can happen, and sometimes things go wrong. But if you tell the truth, things get better before too long.

Barney: That’s right, they do.

All: It’s better to be honest. It’s better to tell the truth. It’s better to be honest. Always tell the truth.

Barney: Don’t make something up, and never tell a lie. Just always tell the truth. Come on, give it a try!

All: It’s better to be honest. It’s better to tell the truth. It’s better to be honest. Always tell the truth.

Lucas: I will!

Barney: Always tell the truth.

Sydney: Me too!

All: Always tell the…..truth!

(Song ends)

Lucas: Alright guys. I’m ready to go tell Holly the one hundred percent truth.

Barney: Great idea, Lucas!

(Everyone exits as we fade to Holly sitting on the idea bench, feeling sad, everyone else enters)

Lucas: Hey Holly, there’s something I’d like to tell you.

Holly: What’s up?

Lucas: It’s about your robot. I’m the one who broke it. I was really curious about how it worked, and it fell off the table while I was trying to figure it out. I’m sorry Holly, I really am. It was an accident.

Holly: Thanks, Lucas. I accept your apology….but why didn’t you tell me before?

Lucas: I was afraid that you wouldn’t want to be my friend, and I was trying my best to hide it and fix it myself before anybody knew.

Holly: That was nice of you Lucas, and I appreciate that, but I’m just glad that you told me the truth. That’s all that matters.

Lucas: *looks back at Sydney and Barney* I guess honesty really is the best policy.

Barney: It really is, Lucas! *chuckles*

Holly: But next time, you don’t have to keep secrets from me.

Lucas: Oh I won’t. From now on, I will be an honest person.

Barney: There you go!

Lucas: And if you’d like, I want to help you put the robot back together.

Sydney: I can help too!

Barney: And so will I!

Holly: OK, sure! Let’s do it!

(All adlibbing at once, as they exit and we fade to them inside the garage as a  montage plays of them working together to put the robot back together)

(Music starts for “The More We Work Together”)

All: The more we work together, together, together, the more we work together, the happier we’ll be. Cause your friends are my friends and my friends are your friends. The more we work together, the happier we’ll be. The more we work together, together, together, the more we work together, the happier we’ll be. Cause your friends are my friends, and my friends are your friends, the more we work together, the happier we’ll be.

(Song ends, as the montage ends, and we fade to the next scene with the robot put back together)

Barney: Now that’s what I call teamwork! *chuckles*

Holly: Alright. Time to test it. You guys ready?

All: Ready!

Holly: OK! Three, two, one! *uses the remote to make the robot walk around, and at a faster speed* Hey look at that! It’s moving faster just like I wanted it too!

Barney: It’s as good as new!

Holly: Thanks everyone for helping me put it back together.

(all adlibbing saying things like “Your welcome” or “No problem”)

Holly: And Lucas, thank you for telling me the truth.

Lucas: Well, I couldn’t have done it without Sydney and Barney. So thank you guys for showing me that honesty is the best policy.

Barney: You did the right thing, Lucas.

Sydney: That’s right.

(Music starts for “I Love You”)

Barney: And thank all of you for making this a super dee duper day, spent with the friends I love. I love you, you love me. We’re a happy family. With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you, won’t you say you love me too?

All: I love you, you love me. We’re best friends like friends should be. With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you, won’t you say you love me too?

(Song ends)

Kids: Bye Barney!

(The kids leave)

Barney: Bye everybody! I’ll see you soon! Bye bye! *chuckles*

(Lucas stops in his tracks, and goes back to the table, where the Barney doll is)

Lucas: Thanks again, Barney. *pats the doll on the head*

(Lucas leaves as we zoom up closer on the Barney doll, then the doll winks)
