Read a Book (script)

• (after the Barney theme song we see Taylor on some bean bags with a pile of books beside her. She seems frustrated and she starts to read a book and closes it and then  does it various times)
• Taylor: ugh! I just can't find a book!
• (the Barney doll starts to sparkle and then it turns real)
• Barney: Maybe I can help!
• (Taylor jumps up and hugs him)
• Taylor: BARNEY!
• (Baby Bop and BJ appear in the classroom via sparkles)
• Taylor: BJ, BABY BOP!
• BJ: Hey Taylor
• Baby Bop: Hi Friend!
• Barney: I heard that you were frustraded..why?
• Taylor: Because I have to read a book for school and I can't pick one.
• Barney: Oh, do you not enjoy reading?
• Taylor: No, I love reading! I do it when every I can!
• BJ and Baby Bop: Yea me too!
• (*I Love to Read* starts to play)
• Taylor: Looking at the pictures, looking at the words.I love to read. A brand new story or one I've heard.I love to read.
• Barney: Reading a book or a magazine That I've never read before. I find out what I want to know And then I read some more.
• All: Looking at the pictures, looking at the words. I love to read. A brand new story or one I've heard.I love to read.
• BJ: Reading the signs along the road To see what they have to say. Or reading the back of a cereal box. 
• Baby Bop: Hey! I can read all day

• Taylor: Yea, but what can I read?
• Barney: I know..the school library
• (*the clip fades into another one where they open up the school library doors)
• (The Library starts to play)
• Barney: You can have an adventure in a far-away land. You can learn about a tuba in a marching band. You can travel through the stars or the deep blue sea. When you learn to borrow books from the library.
• Booker T: But please, don't be loud. 
• All: (Shh!)
• Booker T: So that everyone here can read.
• Barney: You will be proud When you take a book home from the library.
• All: You can have an adventure in a far-away land. You can learn about a tuba in a marching band. You can travel through the stars or the deep blue sea. When you learn to borrow books from the library.
• Booker T and Barney: But please, don't be loud. 
• All: (Shh!) 
• Booker T and Barney: So that everyone here can read.

• Barney: Taylor, I want you to meet a good friend of mine. His name is Booker.T.Bookworm.
• Taylor: Hi Booker T!
• Booker T: Hello Taylor, mind if I call you Tay?
• Taylor: Sure!
• Baby Bop: Hi Booker T! (*laughs*)
• Booker T: Hi Ms.Bop
• BJ: Hey Booker T!
• Booker T: Hi BJ. So why are you guys visiting today?
• Barney: Well, Taylor here needs to read a book for a school assignment.
• Booker T: Sounds like my type of work.
• All: *laugh*
• Barney: But she can't find any book to read.
• Booker T: Well you came to the right place there are a bunch of stories here!
• (*"I Love Stories" starts to play)
• Barney: Stories are so much fun I just can't wait for another one, in movies, or books, on TV At the start of the day,.... Before I go out and play,.... The last thing at night,....Until you turn off the light,....
• All: I love stories all day long, in books and pictures, even in a song I love stories all day long!
• Baby Bop: Tales that have got to be told Some are so special they never grow old
• Booker T: Stories that we could play Come and tell along with me! Who do you wanna be?
• BJ: 'Cause a story a day
• Baby Bop: keeps the blues away 
• All: I love stories all day long, in books and pictures, even in a song I love stories all day long  Yes, I love stories all day long.
• (*song ends)
• Taylor: Let's start looking!
• (*Books are fun instramental plays)
• (Baby Bop makes a mess by throwing books off the shelf. The rest of the gang is standing there shaking their heads. She looks up at them and does a motion like "What, I didn't do it")
• (Taylor starts to read a book but she puts it away)
• (Barney is walking while reading a book. Booker T is on the floor. Barney almost steps on him but doesn't. Barney looks down and does a motion like "Woops, sorry")
• (BJ is standing up and Baby Bop is kneeling. Her back is to his back. His tail moves and touches her shoulder. She looks over and no body is there. it happens again and she forgets about it)
• (clip fades to Barney)
• Barney: Okay everyone, have you found any books?
• Baby Bop: Yes I have!
• BJ: Me too
• Barney: What about you Taylor?
• Taylor: No *sighs* I haven't
• All (except Taylor): Ohh..
• Barney: Wait! I have an idea!
• All (except Barney): What is it?
• Barney: We read our stories to Taylor and maybe she will find insperation in them.
• Taylor: Sure
• Barney: Baby Bop, what is your book?
• Baby Bop: Oh it's one of my favorites!
• Barney: Can I see it?
• Baby Bop: Sure!
• (She hands him the book)
• Barney: Oh, This is a good one!
• Booker T: What is it?
• Baby Bop: It's called Colors All Around. BJ reads it to me when I'm going to take a nap.
• BJ: Yea she loves that book.
• Barney: I wouldn't blame Colors Make Me Happy!
• (Colors Make Me Happy starts to play and he makes his painters hat and gets a paintbrush appear)
• Barney: Colors make me happy Everywhere I go. The world is like a rainbow. Puttin' on a beautiful show. Oh, puttin' on a beautiful show. Looking around makes me smile at how colorful the world can be. From a snowflake to a butterfly, Colors are beautiful to me.
• (While saying the last line he makes them appear)

• Taylor: Eyes come in different colors, so do the birds that fly. 
• Baby Bop: The forests comes in of many greens, and look at all the colors in the sky.
• All: Colors make me happy Everywhere I go. The world is like a rainbow. Puttin' on a beautiful show. Oh, puttin' on a beautiful show.
• (song ends)
• (Barney makes his clothing disappear)
• Barney: Now let's read the story.
• (They all move to the bean bags and Barney starts telling the story)
• Barney: Red is the color of love and hearts. Blue is the color of the sky and the smooth river that glides down the forest. Green is the color of trees and grass that grows tall like all of you. Yellow is the color of the sun that shines down on us. Colors are all around us each day. We live in a colorful world.
• (Barney closes the book)
• Taylor: That story was very nice..it remined me of a rainbow
• (The Rainbow Song starts to play)
• Barney: Oh, I like red, it's the color of an apple Orange, it's the color of an orange Yellow, it's a lemon and our wonderful sun, sun, sun Green, it's the color of trees and lots of things that grow And then there's blue for the sky, and purple, that's a color that's fun, fun, fun And when we put those colors side by side, now what do you think we've done?We've made a rainbow and it's a really beautiful one, one, one
• Taylor: Oh, I like red, it's the color of an apple

• Barney: And then there's blue for the sky, and purple, that's a color that's fun, fun, fun
• All" And when we put those colors side by side, now what do you think we've done?We've made a rainbow....We've made a rainbow....We've made a rainbow and it's a really beautiful one
• (song ends)
• Barney: When we put all of our colors together me make a rainbow. We all are special and deserve to be treated equally.
• Booker T: That's right. I think that BJ has a story that shows how some people were not treated the same way
• Barney: BJ can I see your book?
• BJ: Sure Barney.
• Barney: Thank you.
• (Barney looks at the book)
• Barney: Ohh! this is a good one!
• Taylor: What is it called?
• Barney: "The Ants and the Grasshopper".
• (He opens the book and starts to read. The clip fades to Taylor playing the role of the grasshopper and the rest play the ants)
• (He finishes the story and the closes the book)
• Barney: You see, the grasshopper didnt want to work so the rest had to do extra work. When the winter came he didnt have anywhere to stay and nothing to eat. So to get something we want we need to hop to it!
• (The Ants Go Marching starts to play)
• All: The ants go marching one by one. Hurrah! Hurrah! The ants go marching two by two. Hurrah! Hurrah! The ants go marching three by three. The little one stops to climb the tree. And they all go marching down to the ground to get out of the rain. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.   The ants go marching four by four. Hurrah! Hurrah! The ants go marching five by five. Hurrah! Hurrah! The ants go marching six by six. The little one stops to pick up sticks. And they all go marching down to the ground to get out of the rain. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. The ants go marching seven by seven. Hurrah! Hurrah! The ants go marching eight by eight. Hurrah! Hurrah! The ants go marching nine by nine. The little one stops to the time. And they all go marching down to the ground to get out of the rain. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. The ants go marching ten by ten. The little one stops to say 
• Taylor: "The end". 
• All: And they all go marching down to the ground to get out of the rain. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
• (song ends)
• (They march out of the library)
• Barney: Thank you Booker T. See you next time!
• Booker T: Bye Barney and friends!
• (The clip fades to the class room)
• Barney: Boom boom boom boom and STOP!
• (They all bump into each other)
• Barney: Woah!
• Taylor: Weren't you going to read a book that you picked out.
• Barney: Yes I was but the story I wanted to read is a song. 
• Taylor: Oh really?
• (Try and try again starts to play)
• Barney: Yes!
• (Barney starts singing)
• Barney: If you can't do it the first time, Try and try again. If you can't do it the second time, Don't give up, my friend. 'Cause you're gonna do it sometime. And you will be so happy then. So try and try, try and try again. See the pretty birdie Way up in the sky. When he was just a little bird, He didn't know how to fly. He watched his mommy flap her wings And soar so high. She told him, "You can do it if you try."
• Dinos: If you can't do it the first time, Try and try again. If you can't do it the second time, Don't give up, my friend. Cause you're gonna do it sometime. And you will be so happy then. So try and try, try and try again. So try and try, try and try again.

• Barney: Don't give up. Okay?
• Taylor: Well...okay!
• (the clip fades to Taylor looking on the shelf and Barney and the gang reading books)
• Barney: That is the story of little red riding hood
• Baby Bop: Barney..YELLOW!
• Barney: Oh sorry (chuckles)
• (He walks over to Taylor)
• Barney: Have you found anything?
• Taylor: *sigh* No..
• Barney: Ohh.. I think I know someone who can help you.
• (Barney makes a door appear in the room)
• (A Woman with brown hair walks out. This woman is the new charecter Nickey the Narrator)
• Nickey: Does someone need me?
• Barney: Hi Nickey!
• Nickey: Oh hi Barney. How are you?
• Barney: I'm good. How are you?
• Nickey: Better than ever!
• Baby Bop: Barney..
• Barney: Yes Baby Bop
• Baby Bop: Who is this lady?
• Barney: She's a friend of mine. Her name is Nickey the Narrator. She is roomates and a good friend of Stella the Storyteller
• Taylor: What's a narrado- a narratour-
• Nickey: A Narrator?
• Taylor: Yea.
• Nickey: It's someone who reads stories.
• Taylor: Than you can help me out. I need to read a story book for school and I can't pick one.
• Nickey: Well what I have to tell you one thing, Pick something you love. If you don't love it you won't like it.
• Taylor: Okay..Thanks Nickey
• Nickey: No problem.
• (she checks her wrist watch)
• Nickey: Oh.. I got to go! See ya guys later..Tootles!
• All: Bye!
• Kennedy: Okay I better keep looking.
• (She keeps looking and she stumbles upon a book that is purple and green and says "Barney the Dinosaur" on the cover she takes it out and she walks over to Barney)
• Taylor: Barney is this a book about you?
• Barney: It sure is.
• Taylor: I think I know what book I'm to choose.
• Barney: Witch one?
• Taylor: This one
• (She holds up the book)
• Barney: Oh..Thank you.
• Taylor: You know books are fun!
• (Books are fun starts to play)
• Taylor: I like the radio I like to watch TV.But every day I make some time for something good to read.
• All: Books are fun! Books are great! Let's sit down with a book today.Books are fun! Books are great! Is it book time yet? Oh, I just can't wait To read a book, book,Book, book. 
• Barney: Do you know why I love to read a book? Why I get so happy every time I take a look? 'Cause books can take me anywhere that I want to go. Books help my imagination grow

• (Taylor checks her wristwatch.)
• Taylor: Well I got to go Barney
• Barney: Well okay.
• Baby Bop: I'm getting sleepy it's been a long day!
• BJ: Okay Baby Bop. Barney we need to be heading home too.
• (BJ and Baby Bop start walking out to door and they dissappear vis sparkles)
• Taylor: Thanks Barney, you were a great help.
• Barney: No problem. Whenever you need me just use your imagination and I'll appear.
• (Taylor hugs Barney and walks away the camera pans back to Barney and he has turned into a doll on the floor. The credits role and the episode ends)
